A Christmas Friend
This story started in a desolate weather station in the Antarctic where four-year-old Mikea wrote a letter to Santa Claus. In her letter, she explained that she was lonely because there were no children in the North and where she lived. Mikea asked for only one gift for Christmas: she wanted to spend an evening with a girl her age.
Now, for reasons explained in the book, Santa knew of a girl that would fit Mikea’s wish; she was Sydney Hayes of Dumfries, Virginia. So, Santa and his reindeer set off to ask Sydney to accompany them to visit Mikea. Sydney agreed. Santa bundled her into the sleigh, and they lifted-off for the North Land.
The group traveled through a clear, star-.sky. The homes and towns were visible with their multi-lights attesting to the Yule Tide Season. The reindeer sang some Christmas songs. Sydney was living in a dreamland.
When the sleigh pulled stopped in front of Mikea’s house; pandemonium broke out. When Mikea’s parents saw Santa and his reindeer, they were in a state of fainting, the dog was raising a howl, Mikea was hugging Santa, and the reindeer were smiling at the happy spectacle. When everything died down, Mikea and Sydney bonded immediately. The story has a happy ending, but I’ll leave that for the book to reveal.
