A former senior partner at the law firm of Lathrop & Gage, Mr. Turner excelled as a practicing attorney who served the Kansas City, Missouri area for 35 years. Renowned for his expertise in representing doctors and hospitals in medical malpractice cases, he initially joined Gage & Tucker as an associate in 1960. Mr. Turner further flourished with the aforementioned firm as a junior partner in 1963 before becoming appointed as a partner in 1967, a position he held until entering his well-deserved retirement.

When he was not active in the office or the courtroom, Mr. Turner found success as an adjunct professor in the department of health at the University of Kansas. He additionally lectured at various medical and legal seminars and participated in mock trials on behalf of the Kansas City Bar Association. As a writer, Mr. Turner has contributed legal articles to various scholarly journals such as the Missouri Bar while co-authoring a chapter in the third edition of “Family Medicine: Principles and Practice” through Springer-Verlog. The author produced “The Legal Pitfalls of Nursing (a video) and authored “Time Management for Lawyers” (Mo. Bar Journal (1982).

In his retirement, Mr. Turner has become esteemed as a well-received author of adult novels and children’s books. Some of his books include “Arcadia: A Memoir” and “A Christmas Friend.” Deeply inspired by his travels and his many life experiences, his upcoming book, titled “Amore in Tuscany,” is a romance novel that takes place in Tuscany, Italy. He is the author of a second upcoming book, “A Goat of a Different Color,” a children’s novel promoting social justice. Dedicating about five hours each day to his writing since the passing of his wife in 2009, Mr. Turner anticipates telling many more stories in the years to come.

Mr. Turner has notably obtained an undergraduate degree, a Doctor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Laws at the University of Kansas. He also completed service in the U.S. Air Force between 1950 and 1957. A diplomate of the National Board of Trial Advocacy, Mr. Turner has been admitted to practice law before the U.S. District Court for the District of Kansas and the Western District of Missouri, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit and the Supreme Court of the United States.

To support his professional endeavors, Mr. Turner has been a member of the Missouri Bar and the Kansas Bar Association, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Phi Alpha Delta and the University Club of Kansas City. In 1975, he was presented with an Award of Honor from the Greater Kansas City Jaycees. A celebrated Marquis listee, Mr. Turner has been highlighted in the seventh through ninth editions of Who’s Who in American Law.
